Dynamic Analysis of a Multi Disc Flexible Rotor-Bearing System with Isotropic Stiffness by Varying Geometric Parameters

This paper work is carried out considering the discretized model of the rotor-bearing system. Mathematical formulation required to establish the stiffness and mass matrices of shaft, incorporating disc mass matrix and bearing stiffness matrix are carried out. MATLAB coding is developed to extract the natural frequencies, mode shapes, frequency response function and Campbell diagram, which are crucial in the design process of rotor-bearing system. Provision is made to change the material properties of shaft, length and diameter of shaft, disc diameter, and thickness and bearing at both the ends with variable stiffnesses. A detailed parametric study is carried out considering various system parameters. Variation in the natural frequencies up to third mode with respect to system parameters obtained and represented in the form of graph.
