摘要

Micro-combustors with wall cavities have been widely studied owing to the effective wall-stabilized flame, being anchored in the cavity. The combustion performance is evaluated in terms of outer-wall temperature, exhaust gas temperature and combustion efficiency. In the present study, the effect of the cavity shape on the combustion characteristics is numerically studied by considering rectangular, circular and triangular cavities. The rectangular cavity is observed to result in the highest average outer wall temperature followed by circular and triangular cavities. On the other hand, the impact of the shape of the cavity on the temperature of the exhaust gases and combustion efficiency is relatively insignificant. The shape and size of the recirculation zone is found to be impacted by the cavity shape, which in turn affects the combustion characteristics.
