摘要

Heat transfer characteristics of Newtonian fluid in laminar flow past solid and slotted circular cylinders with different blockage ratios have been obtained for Prandtl numbers: 0.7, 1, and 7 using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations with no slip boundary condition at different Reynolds numbers. Results from these simulations indicate that the heat transfer coefficient and Nusselt number of the slotted cylinder are higher compared to the solid cylinder irrespective of the Reynolds number at which we observe. It is also noticed that the total drag coefficient increased with an increase in the blockage ratio in the scenarios considered. Overall, this study provides insights into how cylinder geometry and fluid properties affect heat transfer and flow characteristics in the laminar flow.
