Thermal Modelling of Lithium-Ion Battery

Lithium-ion batteries as power sources are prominent in small electronics and gadgets and are now entering the electric vehicle market, along with the utility market for framework energy capacity. Due to this trend, there is a need to study Li-ion batteries. This paper consists of a summary of the papers referred, methodology and objectives that are to be performed for the thermal analysis of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles. The objective of this project is to create a thermal model of Lithium-ion batteries and simulate thermal runaway on different packing geometries so as to compare the results with respect to heat propagation and its effects on neighbouring cells.
