Studies on the Buoyancy Effect in Right-Angled Trapezoidal Cavities

摘要

A study is performed to analyze the flow of heat via natural convection in a right-angled trapezoidal porous media whose side walls are insulated and the top wall is left cold. The bottom wall is used as the heat source. The Mathematical model is validated by referencing results from previous literature. MATLAB is used for discretizing the geometry, calibrating the Nusselt number and the rate of heat transfer, and plotting the isotherms. Initially, Rayleigh’s number is set as constant as 100 and the discretization matrix is altered until two consecutive results do not agree with each other. Later Rayleigh’s number is altered to see changes in isotherms and analyze the result and the observation as a good deduction is recorded.
