Literature Review

Past classical studies in the research domain of urban parks on the topics of accessibility assessment, equity assessment, park use demand and behavior, challenges of park distribution in compact cities were systematically reviewed in this chapter, illustrating the development process and highlighting the knowledge gaps in these areas, provided as a literature foundation for the necessity and innovativeness of this study. In addition, since this study was conducted in Singapore, the urban park development history, policies, and trends in Singapore were also reviewed, to fully understand the geographical and cultural context.
