Organizational Behavior and 3Rs Intention: An Empirical Study on Waste Management Behavior

The 3Rs play a crucial role in industrial ecology. The reduction concept in the 3Rs involves minimizing the use of raw materials and energy during production. By designing products that require fewer resources, we can reduce waste generation. This requires smart product design, resource-efficient processes, and sharing and repair models to extend a product’s useful life. At the same time, reuse means that instead of discarding items after a single use, we should promote their reuse. Reusing would require high product longevity, a product-sharing platform, and a culture of repairing goods rather than replacements. Lastly, in the 3Rs, recycling is essential for extracting value from resources. However, it’s not the sole solution. Effective recycling requires improvements in focusing on product design, material use, and manufacturing processes while, most importantly, collection Infrastructure and consumer and organizational behavior. The chapter focuses on understanding organizational behavior and its practices in the context of the 3Rs.
