Current Practices in Industrial Ecology
摘要
Industrial ecology presents an innovative approach that holds promise for achieving sustainability in resource-based cities and industrial settings. By imitating the principles of natural ecosystems, such as optimizing material and energy flows, industrial ecology facilitates the transformation of industries towards symbiosis. It creates a circular economy with minimal waste. One critical element of industrial ecology is its potential to promote a shift to low-carbon industries, thereby contributing to efforts to mitigate the adverse environmental impacts of industrial production processes. Moreover, adopting principles such as “industrial metabolism” and “technological food webs” provides industries with tools to aid in transitioning toward more sustainable practices. Collaborative efforts between public and private actors are crucial for building a future sustainable society, particularly in green transport initiatives.
