Two Dimensional Microscopic Traffic Model with Vehicle Model: Deterministic Formulation

  • HongSheng Qi

摘要

The microscopic traffic flow model investigates how vehicles move based on drivers’ preferences and various environmental factors, such as neighboring vehicles and road conditions like speed limits. Traditionally, vehicle states in car-following models are depicted by longitudinal position and speed, with acceleration/deceleration as the control variable. However, vehicles have physical dimensions, with control inputs encompassing steering in addition to acceleration/deceleration. This chapter integrates a vehicle model into the microscopic traffic flow model, crafting a deterministic two-dimensional traffic flow model. Expanding on the renowned intelligent driver model, this model includes a vehicle kinetic model, offering insights beyond the vehicle’s two-dimensional motion—including driver maneuver details. Simulation results demonstrate that the model consistently replicates real-world observations.
