Artificial intelligence involves machines, particularly computer systems, simulating human intelligence processes. It enables machines not only to replicate but also enhance the capabilities of the human mind. Whether in the advancement of self-driving vehicles or the widespread use of intelligent assistants such as Siri and Alexa, AI is increasingly integrated into our daily lives. The Theory of Second Language Acquisition was developed by linguist and University of California professor Stephen Krashen. According to his approach, students should not focus on grammatical exercises if that is not how they choose to learn a language. He contends that whereas language acquisition is a subconscious process more in line with how children learn languages, language learning is an active, conscious process that imparts a language's norms. This approach is used by apps like LingQ and Rosetta Stone, which aim to teach languages through association and experience rather than through grammar rules. It is practically hard for a teacher to determine the best strategy for every student in a class of 25 pupils. Yet, the unique requirements of each learner can be addressed through the utilization of AI for language acquisition. AI-powered language learning platforms empower learners to progress at their own speed, reinforcing challenging concepts and emphasizing areas of difficulty. These platforms engage learners with tasks in which they excel, align with their interests, and consider factors such as cultural background. Additionally, the data generated provides teachers with insights into their students’ cognitive processes, enabling them to anticipate future performance.
