Broken authentication vulnerabilities pose significant risks to the security of web applications, potentially leading to unauthorized access, data breaches, and other detrimental consequences. This review paper presents a thorough assessment of the literature on broken authentication, highlighting various methods, constraints, and conclusions. This paper under consideration stresses the significance of fixing session management problems, putting robust authentication procedures in place, and giving priority to the security of login information and session cookies. The use of complicated passwords, avoiding session IDs in URLs, using robust encryption, and wiping session IDs after inactivity are important considerations. This review paper also goes over the value of manual testing and comprehending authentication schemas to spot and stop flawed authentication assaults. Overall, the review paper highlights the vital necessity for strong security measures, meticulous testing, and prioritizing the protection of authentication and session management procedures to maintain the security of online applications.
