摘要

The purpose of this research study is to investigate the potential applications of Internet-of-Things (IoT) technology in the process of creating a health and safety system for manual scavengers, with a particular emphasis on the efforts taken by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Manual scavenging, a profession that is both dangerous and degrading, is still practiced in many regions of the globe, even though it poses significant threats to the health and safety of the people who engage in it. In this article, we will study the difficulties that are encountered by manual scavengers and evaluate how IoT-based solutions might successfully solve these difficulties. To be more specific, it will investigate the incorporation of Internet-of-Things devices, such as environmental monitoring systems, wearable sensors, and real-time data analytics, to improve occupational well-being, reduce the risk of health hazards, and offer prompt assistance in the event of an emergency. In addition, the paper will conduct an analysis that is critical of the UNDP's efforts in promoting sustainable development and combatting manual scavenging. It will do this by emphasizing effective case studies and policy frameworks that have been implemented in various locations. This research aims to contribute to the development of comprehensive and effective IoT-based health and safety systems for manual scavengers by synthesizing research findings, technological advancements, and UNDP interventions. The end goal is to improve the quality of life for these marginalized communities and promote inclusive sustainable development.
