Smart Street Light
摘要
In the current scenario, substantial nighttime electricity consumption is attributed to street lighting. To curtail this waste and enhance efficiency, integrating smart technology is imperative. The intelligent street light system significantly reduces energy usage compared to traditional methods by adapting to real-time road activity. It relies on sensors to detect vehicles and pedestrians, adjusting light brightness accordingly. This study focuses on energy-efficient smart street lights, utilizing modern technology like Internet of Things. The budget-friendly sensor subsystem comprises infrared and passive infrared sensors, light-dependent resistors, embedded controllers, and storage. Infrared and light-dependent resistors identify movement and sunlight intensity. Communication devices facilitate unit interaction. Ultrasonic sensors and Arduino Uno AtMega328p gauge distance, monitoring traffic. Light intensity is measured using light-dependent resistors which conserve energy via battery storage, activating at night. To mitigate wastage, infrared and ultrasonic sensors manage lighting by detecting movement, with the microcontroller processing inputs to toggle the system on/off. From a cost-effective urban planning perspective, smart street lights enable optimized resource allocation, fostering efficient urban development and long-term savings despite initial implementation costs.
