The rapid growth of Internet and communication technologies has made us reliant on online applications. Web applications are one of the most popular platforms for sharing information and offering services online. These applications are popular in banking, e-commerce, travel, and healthcare. User-generated, feature-rich HTML content has proliferated like never before on social media and web applications that dynamically deliver information to client-side browsers. This expanded HTML includes hazardous attack vectors that hackers exploit to infect Internet apps. Computer viruses, spyware, and security breaches have affected web apps and digital assets. XSS is a clever vulnerability. This vulnerability injects client- or server-side malicious code into Internet apps. One of the most abused web application security risks is XSS. Unsigned web application source code allows attackers to steal user data and jeopardise system security. Social networking users are vulnerable to XSS attacks. These attacks occur when the online application fails to assess malicious scripts. Attackers may steal cookies, passwords, and other sensitive data from user accounts using these source code weaknesses. This article investigates a browser extension that protects web applications against XSS attacks. This unique solution improves online application security, user data security, and cross-site scripting prevention. Web applications may stay trustworthy and safe for delivering vital services and information in a connected society with proactive measures and alert defences.
