摘要

The pace of technological advancement is relentless. Innovation and technology is evolving and changing our lives in ways, unimaginable before. Product life cycles have shortened and competitive intensity multiplied. From electrical signals to light signals in wired technology of network and from Infra-Red to Wi-Fi and Li-Fi, the network technologies across the entire electromagnetic spectrum are being leveraged to the hilt by designing and deploying numerous innovative models and applications. Wireless technologies like Infra-Red/Wi-Fi or Li-Fi are highly proficient in creating ad-hoc networks for any type of signal exchanging designed to deliver everyday solutions. Creative ideations by researchers can render the deficiency of an experimental model or application into its unique advantage and strength. The model proposed in this paper seeks to trigger SOS signals by using the Visible Light Communication (VLC) technology, i.e. Li-Fi by detecting the reduction in the VLC signal strength. The drop in the intensity of illumination triggers an SOS message to the law enforcement agencies and immediate family members, thereby alerting them just in the nick of time. The model has applications in marketing, promotion and customer acquisition by triggering targeted marketing messages to the devices of customers in defined shopping environments, known as hyper local marketing. VLC signals have maximum speed and fit for emergency situations. This technology will be effective in predicting and preventing potential kidnapping attempts at night. It is also safe against interception and hacking and will have robust reliability across seasons, places and atmospheric or weather conditions.
