Factors Influencing Quantified SelfTechnology Adoption in Monitoring Diabetes

The objective of this paper is to identify the factors that influence the adoption of Quantified SelfTechnology (QST) in monitoring diabetes. Quantified Self is a technology that facilitates the tracking of biological, or physical elements, environmental data, individual mental states, or behavioural elements by oneself using either wearable technology or mobile health apps. A systematic literature review that analysed peer-reviewed published papers between 2018 and 2023 was done. The papers were extracted from 5 scholarly databases, EBSCO, Web of Science, Science Direct, ProQuest, and Scopus. A total of 47 papers were analysed using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). The main factors that influence the adoption of QST were identified as user attributes, technology preparedness of the diabetic patient, usability of the medical applications, social norms, security concerns regarding medical applications, and benefits of the medical technology.
