Shear Strength Testing of Adhesive Bonds in Cross-Laminated Palm
摘要
To identify potential use for palm trees for construction, tests were conducted to establish the adhesive bonding shear strength of laminated palm tree elements. Three different adhesives were used: PRG, PUR, and CEM. Three testing configurations were followed: End Grain loaded, Perpendicular to Grain loaded, Cross Laminated, and two clamping pressures of 0.6 and 0.8 MPa. The results showed that the adhesive type is critical for the strength, highest for PUR, and lowest for CEM. It was noticed that the wood grain distribution within the specimen influences the lamination process and should be not overlooked.
