Study on the Performance of SMH Resin in Water-Based Drilling Fluids

Modified starch is used as a drilling fluid treatment agent in oilfield sites. During the drilling process, modified starch plays a crucial role in drilling fluid, but its poor temperature resistance limits its application in the oilfield. Therefore, in this paper, the linear swelling rate of 1% SMH solution at 120 min is 16.5%, and that of 4.0% KCl at 120 min is 45.15%. The linear swelling rate of 1% SMH solution is reduced by 63.46% compared to 4.0% KCl solution, indicating that SMH solution has a strong inhibitory effect on the hydration dispersion of bentonite. It has good compatibility and salt resistance.
