Development of an Atmospheric Corrosion Monitor and Its Real-Time Monitoring Under Different Environmental Conditions

摘要

A multi-channel atmospheric corrosion monitor (ACM) has been developed, which can be used for corrosion evaluation in different atmospheric environments and is simple in structure, easy to operate and easy to mass produce. The device is capable of real-time collection of long-term corrosion data with high repeatability, and it can record the temperature, humidity, ultraviolet intensity and sulfur dioxide concentration of the atmospheric environment in real time. By comparing the measurements of probe elements with thicknesses of 0.5 and 2 mm, it was determined that the 0.5-mm probe element has a higher sensitivity and shorter response time; by analyzing environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity, ultraviolet intensity and sulfur dioxide concentration, it was determined that temperature and humidity play a major role in the atmospheric corrosion process. The results show that the device can be used to evaluate the corrosion of 20# steel in atmospheric environments with a resolution of up to 0.05 µm for thickness variations.
