Introduction to Well-being of Children and Youth in Singapore
摘要
In Singapore, there is growing recognition of the importance of nurturing and supporting the well-being of children from the early developmental years up to adolescence. These efforts contribute to bringing up children who will be resilient, confident, competent, and able to contribute as leaders in the society. This chapter aims to present a brief yet comprehensive summary of current insights on the well-being of children, adolescents, teachers, parents, and caregivers within the context of Singapore. It will describe well-being in terms of four themes, Theoretical Perspectives of Well-Being, Well-Being from Early to Middle Childhood, Well-Being from Middle Childhood to Adolescence, and Factors and Contexts that Influence the Well-being of Children and Youth, which are used to categorise the chapters in this book. It ends with a layout presentation of the 17 chapters, contributed by experts in this area.
