Chang Mai—The Important Document on the Legal System During the Early Period of the Zhou Dynasty

Chang Mai, 《尝麦》included in Yi Zhou Shu, presents an article of great significance on the legal system of the Western Zhou Dynasty. Nevertheless, the text is elusive and infiltrated with mistakes, resulting in it being rarely noticed by scholars. Even Zhu Youzeng, who specializes in the study of Yi Zhou Shu, has not drawn much attention to this part of Yi Zhou Shu. Only Sun Yirang did a lot of proofreading work on the text. In this section, I would like to further the illustration of the Chang Mai so as to explore its connotation and significance.
