Location cost, or the cost associated with the locational characteristics of production and living input factors that exhibit significant locational differences, is a crucial determinant of the economic cost for households or businesses in choosing a particular location. This, in turn, influences their site selection and ultimately the distribution pattern of urban population and businesses (economic activities). The collective site selection behaviors of micro-entities drive the evolution of urban spatial structures.
