Overview of Urban Spatial Evolution

The study of urban space and its evolutionary processes is a classic subject in urban geography, with a long history of academic accumulation. In this chapter, by reviewing the research achievements of predecessors, we elucidate the relevant concepts and theories of urban space, as well as interpret the main influencing factors and mechanisms of urban spatial evolution. This sets the groundwork for subsequent chapters to further clarify the methods of simulating urban spatial evolution.
