It explores the limitations of conventional water treatment methods and introduces nanotechnology, particularly nanoparticles, as a revolutionary approach to wastewater treatment. The classification section categorizes nanoparticles into organic and inorganic types, detailing their applications in water treatment, with a focus on oxides of silver, gold, zinc, copper, iron, and titanium dioxide nanoparticles. This chapter also introduces the concept of “green technology” and emphasizes green synthesis methods for nanoparticles using bacteria and plant extracts.
