Crop Health Monitoring for Precision Agriculture Using IoT-Based Sensors in Drones

Crop health monitoring is a part of the precision agriculture process which uses IoT-enabled sensors or drones, to monitor the condition of crops as well as environmental factors, like moisture level, and helps to increase the yield with great efficiency. Monitoring the health of crops in precision agriculture is vital because it allows for the early identification of diseases, nutritional deficits, and stressors that impact plants. Through the analysis of data collected from many sources such as drones, sensors, and satellite imaging, farmers can accurately identify particular regions that require care. This enables them to optimize the allocation of resources such as water, herbicides, and fertilizers. Adopting this proactive strategy improves the total output, reduces waste, and encourages sustainable farming methods, resulting in higher production and profitability in the agricultural sector. Traditionally these were done by farmers in person but now it’s been taken over by drones and satellite data, whose collected data are processed, to develop a support system that identifies and measures the crop production and health of the crops. These IoT-based methods are efficient in many ways, however they are more expensive and also require time to process the data. This can be overcome by using less expensive sensors and recent real-time detection technologies like YOLO which enables faster processing and accurate results over RGB data. This research work aims to develop a real-time crop health monitoring model for drones. This project is meant to decrease the cost of the precision agriculture practice without sacrificing efficiency and accuracy.
