A Multidimensional Perception of Time Connecting Education to the Earth and the Universe

The contemporary education system has truncated time into rigid blocks, causing educators to pay little attention to children's biological, psychological, and spiritual rhythms. This paper critiques the industrial and capitalist mindset of time and examines the educational implications stemming from these varied perspectives. We then delve into the multifaceted concept of time, drawing insights from diverse cultural, philosophical, and faith traditions. We probe how different conceptions of time shape our life in relation to the ecological web and our inner dimensions of being. We further discuss the educational implications of these viewpoints and offer practical suggestions for integrating this wisdom of time into our curricula and pedagogies and into educational research. The main focus of the paper is to connect the concepts of time to the earth and universe through education. We use dialogue as a methodology to bring forth our own experiences and observations in various cultural and educational contexts about the perception and treatment of time. We hope this study will motivate educators, researchers, and policymakers to have a new vision about education that connects them to their inner wisdom and to the Earth and the universe.
