Traditional Phytotherapy Among the Various Tribal Peoples of India

The current communication discusses the indigenous traditional knowledge of ethnomedical plants that are utilized by diverse Indian tribes to cure a variety of illnesses. People from tribes are part of the ecology; they coexist peacefully with the natural world and uphold a strong bond between the two. Numerous plant species found in different parts of India are utilized by the tribal people for several therapeutic uses. These include the treatment of ordinary skin conditions like wounds and dermatitis as well as digestive issues including diarrhoea, dysentery, and bone fractures. This chapter offers information on the many plant species from different families that tribes utilize as medicine to treat a range of ailments. Plants are documented with their common name, family, habit, and scientific name as well as the plant parts that were employed and the mode of administration.
