Research on Monitoring and Early Warning of Rockburst in the Heading Face of Extra-Thick Coal Seam

According to the site investigation of nearly ten rockburst accidents during the excavation of composite thick coal seams at the Xinjiang Liu Huanggou Coal Mine, during the excavation of the soft-hard composite thick coal seam, the phenomenon of coal particle ejection from the soft coal seam is frequent, the vibration lasts for a long time, and the rockburst damage is mainly within 10 m range in front and behind. The existing rockburst theory is difficult to scientifically explain the occurrence mechanism of rockburst on the heading face of composite thick coal seams. This chapter takes the heading face of compound thick coal seam in Xinjiang Liu Huanggou Coal Mine as the engineering background, adopts field research, theoretical analysis and field monitoring methods, studies the mechanism of frequent coal particle ejection and rockburst of the heading face of compound thick coal seam, proposes a monitoring and early warning method and early warning indicators based on the concept of “ground sound major events”, effectively ensuring the safe excavation of the compound thick coal seam working face in Xinjiang Liu Huanggou Coal Mine.
