Navigating the Digital Horizon: Emerging Technologies in Value-Added Tax Management

Value-added tax (VAT) management is a fundamental component of organizational financial operations. Yet, this critical domain is still largely manual in many enterprises, necessitating research to unveil emerging technologies and research directions. This study looks at 80 articles about VAT and different technologies. It finds useful and previously undiscovered clustering insights about the future of research in VAT management. With the help of R Studio and bibliometric analysis, we find thematic clusters in the literature, follow how key topics change over time, and draw attention to new technologies like AI, blockchain, data analytics, and automation. The results of this research are instrumental in bridging the gap between traditional VAT management practices and the technological advancements available today. By pinpointing areas for further exploration and emphasizing the need for digitalization and automation in VAT management, this study not only enhances our understanding of this critical field but also underscores its importance in the core business processes of every organization. It serves as a roadmap for future research and innovation, paving the way for more efficient and effective VAT management strategies.
