摘要

Through the increasing adoption of managed services and cloud computing, new options for the realization and provisioning of backup services emerge. One of these possibilities is the option to utilize managed backups, which are a form of managed service where a service provider is responsible for the data protection of a whole business and also provisions and operates the required infrastructure. As a large number of companies already offer products which may be classified as managed backup, this topic is well-established in the IT business sector. However, in contrast to that, the academic research does not deliver a common notion for the term itself, a reference architecture for managed backup products nor a consistent approach to their deployment and operation. To facilitate the scientifically sound creation of such a managed backup product, as a first step, in the publication at hand, the corresponding terminology is analyzed based on a literature review.
