Multi-hop Wireless Network for Residential DC Microgrid Energy Management

Microgrids (MG) are small-scale power systems with distributed generation, energy storage, local loads, and system control. MG robustness is enhanced by centrally monitoring and controlling energy usage across loads through Energy Management System (EMS). This paper proposes integrating a Residential Energy Management and Control System (REMCS) and Central Grid Management and Control System (CGMS) to improve the performance of a DC microgrid at the residential level. A multi-hop wireless network is also proposed to transmit data packets more efficiently over long distances. The efficacy of this control technique is demonstrated through MATLAB simulations for moderate and high-demand scenarios.
