Unbreakable Passwords: Fortifying Cryptographic Security with Derangement Keys
摘要
Protecting sensitive information through robust password security is of utmost importance. However, the increasing availability of pre-computed tables like rainbow tables has made traditional hashing algorithms vulnerable to easy cracking. To address this issue, this paper presents a novel approach that enhances password security by incorporating a derangement key into the hashing process. By employing this technique, a powerful one-way function is formed, significantly impeding an attacker’s ability to reverse-engineer the process and retrieve the original password. Our research demonstrates that the implementation of a derangement key remarkably strengthens password security, rendering it substantially more challenging for unauthorized individuals to gain access to sensitive data stored in databases. This solution offers an effective means of elevating password security in an era where pre-computed tables have rendered the cracking of traditional hashes a trivial endeavor.
