摘要

Cystoscopy (Cystourethroscopy) is a minimally invasive telescopic inspection of the bladder and the urethra. It serves as a diagnostic, therapeutic, and observational tool in both urology and gynecology. It aids in diagnosing lower tract symptoms. Additionally, it serves as a therapeutic tool for treating conditions such as stones, neoplasms, and urethral strictures. As a gynecologist, it is crucial for diagnosing bladder and ureteric integrity after gynecological surgery. It is also a useful adjunct to introduce ureteral catheters for injecting ICG (indocyanine green) dye or putting ureteric stents after a risk of thermal injury in frozen pelvis and severe endometriosis. Gynecologists may substitute their hysteroscope as a cystoscope; but it’s vital to embrace cystoscopy to ensure safe outcomes in complex gynaecological procedures which may jeopardize the safety of bladder & ureters.
