The New Urban Agenda in Zimbabwe: Policy and the Future
摘要
This final chapter synthesises the initiatives and issues identified in the different disciplines and their practice in the built environment and how they have been steering the New Urban Agenda in Zimbabwe in the context of a changing global environment. The initiatives include those that harness smart technologies, academia thrust on innovation and business linkages as well as those that have looked into shared value creation. Identified issues related to gaps in built environment curriculum and practices, and constraining legal and institutional frameworks. The chapter draws policy implications for more effective contribution of built environment disciplines to sustainable development. A New Urban Agenda implementation plan is identified as a critical need for guiding actors. Further, the chapter explores the future of the New Urban Agenda in Zimbabwe over the remainder of the 2020s and beyond. Improving the rate of progress towards the New Urban Agenda will require shaping the built environment sciences and practice for delivery. This will involve revamping curricula, business re-engineering and professionalisation of all built environment sciences.
