摘要

This section outlines a classification of range-based approaches based on their computational structure. Centralized algorithms operate on a central unit endowed with ample resources. Here, network nodes gather physical measurements and relay this data back to a base station for processing. Centralized algorithms are designed to overcome the computational constraints of individual nodes. However, this advantage is offset by the communication costs incurred in transmitting data to the base station. Notably, in most hardware platforms, communication typically consumes more energy than computation.
