Design and Analysis of Automated Guided Vehicle for Production Line

In this paper, “automated guided vehicles” (AGVs) are driverless vehicles equipped with optical, magnetic, or laser guidance systems for automated functionality. The first AGV was developed in 1953 by A. M. Barnet, and since then it has grown enormously and new features are added day by day. Because of that, it is used in all industries for lifting or towing loads from one place to another by using the programme or the path fed into its programmable logical circuit (PLC). AGVs consist of a number of components, including a frame for lifting weights, wheels that balance movement, batteries and collision sensors, a driving module, and an avoidance sensor. This paper presents a low-cost AGV for industry to lift the load and move it from one workstation to another to increase the efficiency of the production line. The vehicle routing is done by using PLC ladder programming, which is also included in this paper. It also includes the static structural analysis of the AGV’s frame for the maximum load capacity.
