Utilization of Soyabean Pulp Ash to Develop Paver Blocks and Roofing Tiles

Concrete paver blocks and roofing tiles are both gaining popularity. In addition to its employment in pre-engineered buildings and pavements, paver blocks are also utilized for paving approaches, walkways, and parking lots. Roofing tiles are used for roof covering in place of more expensive slab installation. This paper reports the findings of an experimental investigation into the suitability of soyabean pulp ash for concrete paver blocks and roofing tiles. In this investigation, the impact of soyabean ash content ranging from 10 to 40% on the paver block's compressive strength, split tensile strength, and water absorption test has been assessed for M35 and M40 grades. For roofing tiles, a mortar ratio of 1:3 is utilized as the control mixture, and the flexural test and water absorption test are carried out by replacing the cement with 10%, 20%, and 30% soyabean pulp ash. It has been found that all of the soyabean pulp ash-based mixes are capable of producing paver blocks that meet the requirement of IS 15658-2006 for compressive strength, split tensile, and water absorption tests. Furthermore, the results for roofing tiles were found to satisfy the standards. As a result, it is possible to manufacture paver blocks and roofing tiles by up to 30% substituting soyabean pulp ash for cement. The study is helpful for a variety of resource persons who are actively engaged with utilizing industrial or agricultural materials to make sustainable paver blocks and roofing tiles.
