Effect of Various Alkaline Treatment on the Micro Structural Properties of Careya arborea Fiber
摘要
The current paper investigates the influence of the chemical treatment on the microstructure of the Careya arborea. Careya arborea was identified as a novel fiber in the Indian demographics and our previous work on the same for their evaluation of mechanical properties has been reported in the scientific community. Recently, there is an ample attention received in the scientific community on biodegradable natural fibers to enable sustainable ecosystem. In lieu to support this, we have realized that to enable versatility and also enhance the properties of the materials by tailoring the surface properties of these natural fibers so as to accommodate various fillers. In this context, we have investigated the influence of C. arborea by treating it with chemicals such as ammonia hydroxide, decyl, dodecyl and glycol. The microstructural and spectroscopic investigations are reported indicating the improvement in the surface texture to accommodate fillers.
