Reliability-Based Load Balancing Algorithm in Cloud Environment for Manufacturing Sector

摘要

The cloud is the most demanding technology in the present era used in different sectors of engineering like manufacturing. The main task of the cloud-based technology is to provide reliable services to the users within budget, time and effectively use the resources. The load balancing mechanism is very crucial for the effectively utilization of resources in cloud. To enhance resource usage and request response time, a load balancing method is used to disperse the load among several nodes in a distributed system. These techniques are mostly used to solve the problem where one node is overburdened, while others are idle, causing the request to fail. Many load balancing methods have been developed in cloud environment, but very few of them incorporate the reliability parameters. In this research, a reliability model is proposed based upon certain factors, i.e., success rate, availability and deadline for execution of the tasks on reliable virtual machine to improve resource utilization, turnaround time and response time. In cloud manufacturing, where operational efficiency and scalability are essential, the proposed approach addresses two significant challenges: overloaded virtual machines (VMs) and less reliable VMs.
