摘要

Presently, manufacturing is facing global competition. For sustainability of any manufacturing organization, it is essential to be competitive on both quality and price. Optimum utilization of manufacturing facilities helps in lowering the manufacturing cost. Operating at highest level of overall equipment effectiveness leads to maximized productivity. This is achieved by ensuring maximum availability, reliability and optimum utilization of the equipment. Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is an excellent tool to achieve highest level of availability, performance and quality output of an equipment exercising activities through its various pillars. Rigorous exercise of training and education pillar of TPM is very important for development of professional skills of the workmen that enable workmen to operate and maintain their equipment at optimal level of productivity. This paper presents a detailed practical implementation case, which is conducted in four grinding processes of a manufacturing unit to verify effectiveness of training and education pillar of TPM. After conducting training and education activity, improvements in overall equipment effectiveness and other performance measurement metrics are recorded.
