Manufacturing Operational Excellence Through Quality 4.0: A Case Illustration of the Aerospace Industry

Quality 4.0 is a tool for improving production and service quality. It is inspired by the fourth industrial uprising, which stresses on the technological integration of manufacturing and services practices. Quality 4.0 processes start with technology-based detection, storage, analysis, and solution from data analysis. IoT-enabled devices play a significant role in gathering information from different stages of the process cycle, which can be further analyzed and executed in decision-making. Technology-based quality procedures provide solutions to issues of the entire supply chain, along with local issues. The authors investigated the quality-related processes of the aerospace sector in this article. The authors have analyzed the current practices of quality improvement and suggested suitable Quality 4.0-based technologies for further improvement.
