Silver Nanoparticles as a Stimulant in Organogenesis of Several Plants

Organogenesis in plant tissue culture refers to the creation and growth of organs, such as shoots or roots, from the explants. The crucial elements affecting in vitro organogenesis are the equilibrium between auxins and cytokinins and the tissue’s responsiveness to phytohormones under certain culture conditions. This chapter illustrates the beneficial impact of silver nanoparticles as a stimulant on the organogenesis of different species of plants cultured in vitro. Silver nanoparticles enhanced plantlet growth and dealt with the vitrification issue in gerbera plants (Gerbera jamesonii ‘Revolution yellow’), improved shoot production, reduced root length in vitro, and enhanced survival rate and runner formation in strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa) plants grown in a greenhouse. Furthermore, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) contributed to the improvement of protocorm-like body formation, stem elongation, and development of Anthurium andraeannum ‘Tropical,’ In addition, the effect of AgNPs on medicinal plant, Panax vietnamensis, or flower plants, such as Rosa hybrida L. ‘Baby Love’ and Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat. cv. ‘Jimba,’ also will be mentioned in this chapter.
