Biomedical Applications of Biosensors
摘要
Disease diagnosis is crucial for medical sciences. Good selectivity, lower sensitivity, and minimal interference effects are necessary to execute an effective analysis. Compared to conventional procedures, biosensors have several advantages, including excellent sensitivity, quick analysis time, real-time analysis, affordable instruments, and minimal pretreatment steps. Biosensors enable the quantification of metabolites and degradation products in biological fluids in addition to the active ingredient in pharmaceutical formulations. The main goal of this chapter is about the biomedical applications of biosensors, having a short explanation of the core word biosensor with its general classification. This classification is based on the type of transducing and recognition element involved. This chapter highlights the description of the sensor used in various diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, neurological disorders, etc. The sensors for disease diagnosis are generally based on the metabolite fluctuations present, which play vital roles and are involved in various physiological mechanisms in the body. Overall this chapter gives the detailed applications of biosensors in the medical field.
