摘要

In recent years, the intersection of nanotechnology and biosensing has sparked remarkable advancements in the field of DNA detection. Electrochemical DNA sensors, distinguished for their simplicity, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness, have emerged as indispensable tools in this pursuit. This chapter delves into the multifaceted role of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) in advancing DNA detection methodologies. The discussion centres around the manifold functions of AuNPs, encompassing DNA immobilization, electron transfer facilitation, and signal amplification. Emphasis is placed on elucidating their effectiveness as labels in electrochemical sensors, concurrently accentuating their potential for surface modification to augment detection limits. The catalytic and conductive attributes of gold are harnessed to underscore the rationale behind the enhanced performance of AuNP-empowered sensors. Furthermore, this chapter provides insights into the practical applications of these sensors, focusing on their roles in clinical diagnostics, environmental monitoring, and genetic research. The culmination of this exploration exemplifies the potential of gold nanoparticle-based electrochemical DNA sensors to revolutionize molecular diagnostics and biosensing applications.
