Nanotheranostics: Clinical Status, Toxicity, Regulatory Consideration, and Future Prospects
摘要
This chapter highlights the overview and basic idea about nanotheranostics and their use in medical research. Nanotechnology is a multidisciplinary approach that incorporates physical, chemical, and beneficial effects on living matter at the microscopic level. Recently, nano-medicine has become an emerging field of science that combines nano-science, nanoengineering, and nano-technology with life sciences. Theranostics is the combination of therapy and diagnostics. Nanotheranostics are carrier-based strategies of sub-micron and nano sizes. In the present chapter, you will encounter novel theranostics, such as liposomes, micelles, quantum dots, and carbon nanotubes (CNTs). This chapter also helps you better understand their clinical status and toxicological effects. It also provides an overview of the regulatory considerations required for marketing approval and their future perspective for more efficient treatment strategies and smooth operationalization of medical research.
