A Reflection on “Knowing Your Place”: Learning Supported by Meditation, Dialogue and Stories
摘要
A change of heart and mind begins with knowing our place within living systems. The process of action learning is based on an affirmation of people’s personal experience, unhurried storytelling, active, compassionate listening in small groups and sharing in wider groups with the help of translators (when necessary) and plenty of opportunities for discussion, combined with sharing tea or a meal. One of the pathways is Mahayana thinking and practice which provides lessons in humility applied in daily life rooted in compassion and equanimity. In this chapter, I explore what this implies for nurturing multispecies relationships and extending our solidarity to appreciate and foster a connection with all that exists. I explore the concept and practice of compassion in this light. This chapter invites us to prefigure change through our daily choices.
