The 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games: Whistler Sport Legacies

This chapter explores WhistlerWhistler Sport Legacies (WSLWhistler Sport Legacies (WSL)), an organization established to manage the venuesVenues in the Resort Municipality of Whistler from the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. WSL’s interactive governance mode involves partnerships with national and local entities to impact sport excellence and community development. With the help of a legacy fund created in the pre-Games phase, WSL manages Olympic venues in Whistler. Stakeholder inclusion and knowledge sharing was foundational in this case enabling WSL to sustain both tangible and intangible legacies for the region. The case study chapter highlights the need for ongoing attention to governance dynamics.
