Study on Bus Lane Delay Estimation Method Based on the Joint Effect of Intersection and Upstream Stop

With the gradual development and expansion of the scale of our cities, the demand for transportation is increasing, but the supply of transportation facilities cannot fully meet the traffic demand. A consensus has been reached to prioritize the development of urban public transportation. In a narrow sense, bus priority is expressed as a signal priority at intersections and exclusive right of way in road space, that is, the establishment of urban bus lanes. The level of bus delays in bus lanes directly affects bus development. However, existing researches mainly focus on the conditions and forms of bus lanes, but to some extent needs more analysis of bus lane operation delays is required. Therefore, this paper focuses on the estimation method of urban bus lane operation delay, an urban bus lane delay estimation method based on joint effects of intersections and upstream stops is proposed. The results show that the method can effectively estimate the operation delay of bus lanes, evaluate the operation efficiency of urban bus lanes, and to a certain extent provide a theoretical basis for developing road traffic facilities improvement plans and reducing the delay.
