The addition of sodium metasilicate to concrete results in the formation of additional calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H), the primary binding phase in cement that provides strength and durability. It reacts with the calcium hydroxide in concrete, forming a more compact and dense matrix, which improves the overall mechanical properties and durability of the material.
