Geopolymer mortar, like geopolymer concrete, utilizes aluminosilicate precursors rather than traditional Portland cement as a binder. The primary constituents of geopolymer mortar typically include fly ash or slag activated by alkaline solutions, such as sodium or potassium silicate combined with sodium or potassium hydroxide. This innovative material not only offers a significant reduction in CO 2 emissions associated with cement production but also provides superior properties compared to conventional mortar, including higher mechanical strengths, excellent durability, and greater resistance to chemicals, heat, and fire. In environments subject to severe conditions—such as chemical exposure, extreme temperatures, and aggressive weathering—geopolymer mortar demonstrates enhanced performance, making it a suitable choice for protective coatings, repair operations, and infrastructure prone to harsh environmental impacts.
